Dons compete well in 2nd annual Pebble Beach Classic


The University of San Francisco Dons proved they are a top 75 team in the nation by competing and giving solid efforts against #66 SMU and #35 California Berkeley this past weekend down in Pebble Beach,CA. Even though they came up on the short end they proved they are ready to take this program to the next level and can compete with the nations best. The Dons are playing well and looking to peak down the stretch as the WCC Championships are only less than a month away. Up next for the Dons is a doubleheader at G.G.P. this Tuesday March 20th against Northern Colorado at 9:30a.m. and the Cornell Big Red at 1p.m. Please come out and show your support. Go Dons!!!

USF plays well against ranked Golden Bears

The USF men's tennis team got impressive singles wins from Thong Tu at number two and Falko Huettenberger at number three but still dropped a 5-2 decision to California Sunday afternoon at the Second Annual Pebble Beach Collegiate Classic.

After dropping the doubles points, USF won two of the top three singles matches, with Thong Tu topping Daniel Sebescen 6-4, 7-6 and Falko Huettenberger winning over Eoin Heavey 7-5, 6-4.

The match was closer than the score indicated as Matt Berry barely lost at number one , 7-6 in the third set and Rainer Nachbauer lost two 7-6 sets at number four.

The Dons (7-7) are back in action with two matches at Golden Gate Park Tuesday, facing Northern Colorado at 9:00 a.m. and Cornell at 1:00 p.m.

The USF men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to visiting Southern Methodist in the opening match of the second annual Pebble Beach Collegiate Classic Friday.

The Mustangs, who face Cal Saturday, took the doubles match and won the first three completed singles matches to clinch the win.

USF will face Cal Sunday afternoon in the final matchup.

Just 3 tie breakers away from pulling off a major upset. Matt Berry had 2 match points against Peirre Moullion the #20 player in the country and Reiner Nachbauer had 2 close tie breaking sets against CAL's top recruit Kallim Stewart(top 5 US boys 18's) NEXT TIME!!
