He who laughs last laughs.....

The Dons just didn't quite get the job done today against rival Santa Clara but believe me we will see them again and it will be this year for sure. Another chapter in this rivalry has been finished for today but there will be more battles to fight and a war that we will conquer. Kudos to Matthew Berry and Tommy Tu who came out on a mission today and took no prisoners. All other Dons put up great fights but there were a few lessons to be learned and as the saying goes you learn more from your losses than you do from your wins. The Dons however cannot dwell on this and have a big weekend ahead against Cal Poly and Santa Barbara. There are more matches ahead of us and we will keep on fighting. As for Santa Clara, we still have a bone to pick with them. Stay tuned....

The USF men's tennis team fell to Bay Area and WCC rival Santa Clara 5-2 in a rain-delayed match Thursday at the Olympic Club. The match was continued from Wednesday when rain stopped the action after the doubles competition.

USF, who trailed 1-0 after Wednesday's play as the Broncos had taken the doubles point, got a win at number one by Matthew Berry 6-3, 6-4 over the Broncos' Jan Macek. The Dons also got a win at the third slot by Thong Tu in straight sets over Brian Brogan. Santa Clara was able to clinch the match after Bob Rasmussen defeated Rainer Nachbauer at the four slot.

USF next plays at Cal Poly Saturday afternoon and UC Santa Barbara Sunday.
