
#67 Dons Drop Season Opponer against Portland 4-3

The No. 67 USF men's tennis team opened the 2009 spring season this weekend, dropping two matches. Saturday, the Dons fell just short in a hard fought battle with West Coast Conference foe Portland 4-3. Against the Pilots, Portland earned an early advantage taking the doubles point. San Francisco earned its three points with victories at the No. 1, 3 and 6 singles positions. At No. 1, regionally ranked Tommy Tu fell behind early to Filip Zivkovic but rallied to the 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 victory. Asaf Cohen earned a point playing No. 3 thanks to a three-set 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over the Pilots' Geoff Hernandez. The Dons' final point game at No. 6, as Mitch Del Rosario posted a 6-2, 6-7, 6-1 decision over Nick Wales. In the match, five of the six singles matches were decided by three sets, with the exception of No. 5.
