Dons Face UNLV, Nebraska In Las Vegas




USF looks to capture first victory of the Spring

(San Francisco) - USF's Nationally Ranked Men's Tennis Team returns to action this weekend as they travel to Las Vegas for a pair of matches. The No. 67 Dons (0-2 overall, 0-1 vs. West Coast Conference foes) will face off with host UNLV and No. 73 Nebraska.

San Francisco is looking for its first win of the season, after dropping matches to Portland and No. 36 Washington Jan. 17 and 18, respectively, in Seattle. In the spring opener, USF battled until the end against the Pilots, falling 4-3. Tommy Tu, Asaf Cohen, Mitch Del Rosario earned points for the Dons in the contest. The next day, San Francisco was unable to rebound against the Huskies, falling 7-0.

The Dons will face a tough challenge again this weekend. USF opens play Saturday at 10 a.m. against UNLV. The Rebels are led by Luca Barlocchi, who is ranked fifth in the Mountain region.

Sunday, San Francisco will match-up with No. 73 Nebraska on a neutral court in Las Vegas. The Cornhuskers are paced by David Bendheim, the sixth ranked player in the Central region.

Following this weekend's action, the Dons will host their first home match of the season. On Feb. 11, USF will host rival Santa Clara at the Olympic Club at 1 p.m.
