Men's Tennis Sweeps Northern Colorado


No. 122 Tommy Tu wins seventh straight singles decision

(San Francisco,CA) - USF swept a men's tennis decision, 7-0, over Northern Colorado Tuesday at the Cal Club in San Francisco. With the victory the Dons improve to 4-7 on the season.

"Everyone posted victories today," said head coach Peter Bartlett. "The match was a good momentum builder for our Pebble Beach event this weekend against Saint Mary's and California."

The Dons jumped out to a quick lead against the Bear, taking all three doubles matches. At No. 1, Einar Hart and Rainer Nachbauer joined forces to up-end Calix Van Lier and Adam Perez 8-6. The No. 2 spots and No. 3 spots came slightly easier and Mitch Del Rosario and Mike Carreno earned an 8-1 decision at No. 2 and Peder Steen and Torin Ching secured the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at No. 3.

The momentum continued in singles play, as San Francisco won all six matches in straight sets. Nachbauer, at No. 3, and Del Rosario, at No. 6, each rolled through their matches winning 6-0, 6-0. Asaf Cohen secured a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 2, while, nationally ranked, No. 122 Tommy Tu won his seventh straight singles match with a 6-4, 7-5 No. 1 decision. Carreno won the No. 4 point with a 6-4, 6-4 victory, while Jacob Hartwig posted a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 5 spot.
