


USF improves to 3-2 vs. WCC foes

(San Francisco,CA) - Thanks to a No. 3 singles victory by Rainer Nachbauer, the USF men's tennis team clinched its first 4-3 win of the season Saturday. With the victory over visiting Loyola Marymount, the Dons improve to 3-2 against West Coast Conference foes, 5-10 overall, for the season.
USF jumped out to an early, crucial, lead in doubles action, taking two of three from the Lions. At the top spot, Tommy Tu and Asaf Cohen continued their strong spring with a 8-1 victory, while Nachbauer and Einar Hart joined forces at No. 3, winning 8-2, to earn the point for San Francisco.
In singles play, Nachbauer's come-from-behind, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 3 clinched the match for the Dons. USF also earned wins at No. 1 and No. 6 in singles action. Tu, the 103rd nationally ranked player in NCAA Division I, garnered a straight-set 6-2, 6-3 victory at the top spot, while Mitch Del Rosario posted a straight -set 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6. In all the other singles spots, the Dons dropped in three sets.
San Francisco will return to the courts April 8 as it hosts rival Santa Clara. The match with the Broncos was previously scheduled for early February but was postponed due to weather. USF and SCU will now face off on the 8th at the Olympic Club at 1 p.m.
