


Men's tennis downs UC Santa Cruz in final home match

(San Francisco,CA) - In its final home match of the season, the USF men's tennis team secured a 5-2 victory over UC Santa Cruz at the Cal Club in San Francisco. The match was the final home contest for three seniors - Mitch Del Rosario, Torin Ching and Tommy Tu - all who helped earn the victory for the Dons.
Del Rosario and Ching earned their first career victory at the top spot in doubles action as the senior duo defeated Jared Kamel and Marc Vartabedian 8-6. San Francisco earned the doubles point as Tu combined with Jacob Hartwig at No. 3, posting a strong 8-2 victory over Max Ortiz and Colin Mark-Griffin.
In singles action, Tu, who is currently ranked 103rd nationally, continued his strong spring with a dominating 6-0, 6-2 straight-set win over Max Liberty-Point at No. 1. Rainer Nachbauer, Einar Hart and Hartwig helped the Green and Gold's cause, earning their spots to put the Dons over the top. Nachbauer posted a 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 2, while Hart downed Max Ortiz 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3. Hartwig wrapped out USF scoring thanks to a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5.
The Dons will wrap up the regular season Wednesday as they travel to nationally-ranked Stanford. Following the match with the Cardinal, USF will head to the West Coast Conference Championships in San Diego to close out the spring.
